Hello busy parent! I have for you these quick printable instructions in PDF format to refer to at your convenience, or if you have a moment read on!
Here is an  interactive activity that gets the kids outside solving an Easter weekend mystery!  You can set this activity up in and around your community, or just within the perimeter of your back yard or even home.  Invite a group of friends to participate or keep it low key. The choice is yours!

Things you need:
-printer
-acrylic paint & thin paint brush
-medium sized rocks OR wood medallions (12-24)
-clip board to hold printed sheet (or tape
paper to a flat book so it's easy for the kids to write on as they collect the clues)
-pencil (recommend attaching to clipboard)

STEP 1: Create an Easter basket or Easter gift bag. Fill it with whatever your kids like; stickers, candy, toys or gift cards. Fresh art supplies (markers, chalk, paint) always make a bright and creative addition to the gift basket. Place it UNDER THE BED of a little child and INSIDE THE KITCHEN CUPBOARD for older kids.

STEP 2: Download and print the “Letter From the Easter Bunny” (see attachments at the bottom of this article).  There are two versions of the letter: one for bigger, more independent kids who can venture further away from you. The letters they gather will have them arrive at a message that spells INSIDE THE KITCHEN CUPBOARD.

For younger kids (ages 4-7) who are just starting to read and need to be kept and a closer eye on I have them solving a simpler puzzle that brings them to the message that spells UNDER YOUR BED. You can set up both treasure hunts or just one if you are only dealing with young kids or older kids. But do separate areas for each group if you are doing both, so as to not confuse things.

You can write the letters on large rocks using acrylic paint or on wood medallions.

I found the medallions come in a number of different shapes; square, round and heart shaped. I used heart shaped ones and painted them in bright spring colors.

STEP 3:  Using acrylic paint and medium sized rocks or wood medallions to write the following letter and number combinations. (Note: Make an extra medallion or rock "from the bunny" to show them an example of what they are looking for.)

OLDER KIDS (24 rocks in total):
I1       N2        S3       I4        D5        E6        T7    H8       E9
K10      I11      T12      C13      H14      E15     N16
C17    U18        P19     B20      O21     A22     R23     D24

YOUNGER KIDS (12 rocks in total):
U1     N2     D3       E4      R5         Y6    O7     U8      R9           B10     E11     D12

STEP 4: In the letter from the Bunny fill in the area you are hiding the medallions in so the kids know to only stick to those areas. You can allocate street cross sections, names of friend's and neighbor's back yards they are allowed to venture into. Place the rocks or medallions with the letters and numbers around a chosen area. Remind the kids to put the clues back for other Treasure Hunters to find later.

STEP 5: On Easter morning you can have a simple letter in a pretty Easter Themed envelope ready for the kids to discover on the coffee table or under their pillow. Don't forget to include a painted medallion with the letter so they see an example of what they are looking for during the treasure hunt. Or! Hide the letter inside these fun Egg Pillows along with some chocolate kisses and chocolate eggs. Don't forget to write a message on the Egg Pillow reminding them to check inside the egg!
